Landscape Styles

Brandon's Landscapes, Inc. specializes in several different styles of landscaping. However, we mainly focus on water efficient money saving options. There are many different looks and feels that you can create in a landscape, and these are just a few. A landscape can be used for entertainment, relaxation, or even just for beauty. The style of landscape that Brandon's Landscapes, Inc. will utilize for your property will be based on your personal preference as well as your use for the area.

Xeriscape

Xeriscape Landscaping is normally utilized in areas that are susceptible to drought or for properties where a water conservation plan is put into place. Xeriscape is defined to be literally a ‘dry landscape.’ This doesn't necessarily mean that your landscape has to be dried out and looking bad in order to save water. This style of landscape is also usually connected with, but not limited to, dessert plants. The policy of xeriscape landscaping will actually allow you to use the plants that you want while utilizing common-sense practices in order to conserve water. Grouping plants with similar water-requirements or using plants that are indigenous to your area, are the best ways to produce a water efficient xeriscape landscape that will still be beautiful and make your property look its best for less money.

Mediterranean

Mediterranean Landscaping is becoming very popular in Southern California as it works well in a warm, breezy climate and is perfect for homes in drought-ridden areas, or for people who prefer low maintenance. The Mediterranean style brings to mind lush greenery, statues, waterfalls, curving walkways, and a feel of relaxation. This style doesn’t require much lawn area, and tends to have stone walkways, bricks, or terra cotta put up against soft luscious growth. The Mediterranean style will work very well for entertaining and is usually very warm and inviting. It is the perfect style to sit out in the sun, relax, and look at your gardens. Mediterranean landscapes will be relatively low on maintenance, and will still look great and have color all year round.

California Native

The California Native style of landscape is made up of plant material native to the climate and region of California. This means that these plants can survive on minimum amounts of water, and will essentially require less maintenance to keep them healthy. This style does not necessarily mean that you have to use cacti or succulents, and you can still have an eye-catching yard.

The California Native landscape style is very similar to the Mediterranean style. Most of the plant material used in a Mediterranean landscape can still be used since they are made for the same type of climate and region. Also, the Mediterranean style has a more broad plant pallet to choose from and has a lot more interest.

Tropical

Tropical Landscaping is generally more vibrant and lush. This style generally has a lot of plant material which will make up the tropical feel. If you would enjoy having a water feature in your landscape, then this may be the style for you. An additional pathway leading through an area of palm trees and tropical ground plants would add a nice relaxing feel to the landscape. Or, a seating area to view your lush green gardens would be a great feature to have.

Woodlands

The woodland style of landscape is generally for properties with large amounts of shade. However, having full shade does not mean that you have to sacrifice color in your landscape. When there is more shade than sun on a property, whether it’s from an awning or from a large tree, this style can be very useful. Using a shrub with colored flowers in an area with only shade will work nicely as the color will pop and make the area seem less dull. Putting money into the placement of a tree in your yard can also be a helpful investment. This will help keep your yard cool in the summer heat and will keep water in your landscape longer since the sun will not be able to evaporate water out of your soil as fast.
